MCT OIL - THE WORLD'S HEALTHIEST FAT

In this post, we’re going to talk about the many amazing reasons to include MCT oil in your life!

The “MCT” stands for “medium-chain triglycerides”, the fatty acids that contain between six and 12 carbon molecules. Animal fats tend to contain more long-chain triglycerides (more than 12 carbon molecules), as do many nuts and seeds.

Medium-chain triglycerides, however, are far less common—found mainly in milk (cow, goat, and, yes, human), palm oil, and coconut oil.

If you were to eat a spoonful of coconut oil (something a surprising number of people do!), you’d get a lot of both long-chain and medium-chain triglycerides. MCT oil, however, is a product derived from palm and coconut oil that has had all of the long-chain triglycerides removed. All that’s left is the medium-chain triglycerides.

You may be wondering, “What’s the difference between long-chain and medium-chain triglycerides?”

Simple: speed of digestion.

Long-chain fatty acids go through a number of digestive steps before they can be absorbed into the liver to be turned into energy. Medium-chain fatty acids, however, don’t require any pancreatic enzymes or bile to be digested, and they’re transported directly from your small intestines into the liver, where they can be turned into energy.

Basically, medium-chain triglycerides are easier for your body to use more quickly.

MCT oil is made with these medium-chain fatty acids, and you’ll find there’s a lot more they can do to help improve your health:

They’re Amazing for Weight Loss

First off, MCT oil contains about 10% fewer calories than oils that contain long-chain triglycerides (peanut, avocado, olive, etc.).

Second, your body processes MCT oil more quickly (as mentioned above), so you have more energy to use more quickly, and your body is able to burn more calories of that energy.

One study found that MCTs help to increase the production of leptin, a hormone that signals to your body that you’ve had enough to eat. Essentially, they shut down your appetite.

But that’s not all! The medium-chain fatty acids also boost the production of peptide YY, a hormone that triggers feelings of fullness. In another study, researchers found that people who ate coconut oil (rich in MCTs) for breakfast ended up eating less at lunchtime thanks to the appetite-suppressing properties of the oil. This is one of the anchor principles in our world-leading nutritional protocol - The Flat Belly Fix

MCT oil can help to regulate fat absorption and increase fat burning, which in turn triggers weight loss. It can reduce both your body weight and your waist circumference, and can help combat obesity.

Best of all, it will help to improve your gut health by nourishing your intestinal bacteria, which makes your body more effective at absorbing and utilizing the nutrients you eat.

They’re Great for Athletes

MCTs provide one very important function for athletes: they help to combat lactate buildup.

When your muscles contract, they burn ATP energy and release the byproduct lactate. Over time, as lactate builds up in your muscles, it becomes harder for your muscles to contract—which is why you have a harder time completing that last set or rep once you’ve pushed your body hard.

MCT oil can help to reduce lactate levels and make it easier for you to exercise. Not only that, but they can help your body to burn more fat for energy during your workouts, shifting your metabolism away from using pure carbs.

They’re Wonderful for Your Brain

Medium-chain triglycerides are considered “super fuel” thanks to their ability to power up the most important organ in your body: your brain.

MCTs get absorbed directly into your liver, bypassing the breakdown by bile and pancreatic enzymes. Seeing as these fatty acids don’t get broken down, they arrive in your body’s cells ready to be used and instantly available. This makes them a faster-acting source of energy than long-chain fatty acids.

Medium-chain fatty acids can be converted by your liver into ketones, which are able to pass through the blood-brain barrier. This provides your brain with a flood of easy-to-use energy, which helps your brain work better and have more energy available.

They’re Excellent for Improving Your Overall Health

You’d be amazed by how many different ways MCTs can help your body!

  • They can reduce your risk factors for heart problems.

  • They can lower your total and LDL cholesterol levels.

  • They can raise the “good” HDL cholesterol levels.

  • They can decrease the production of C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation in your body.

  • They can fight both yeast and bacteria in your body.

  • They can provide short-term brain benefits for Alzheimer’s patients.

  • They can reduce the frequency of epileptic seizures.

  • They can help you manage your blood sugar levels.

  • They can reduce insulin resistance.

As you can see, medium-chain triglycerides can offer you A LOT of health benefits
